as time passes by.

According to the conclusion of the past research of an American author and mycologist, Robert Gordon Wasson, he stated that some people feared mushrooms due to its hallucinogenic effects after their rituals and ceremonies. The people who feared mushrooms due to that fact are then called mysophobia. Due to this fact, various people disregard their effects. Instead, it has only been seen as a holy agent to communicate with their gods but far from using it as a recreational drug.
The Magic Mushrooms
When we are talking about magic mushrooms, we are about types of mushrooms with present and active substances that are intoxicating and psychoactive. In this section, we will be discussing different types of magic mushrooms that can be found in BC. There are two known types. They are Psilocybin and Psilocin mushrooms.
Psilocybin and Psilocin Mushrooms
According to the author Stamets & Gartz, these types of magic mushrooms can be found in BC though it has originated far from the land of America. Psilocybin and Psilocin mushrooms mainly grow from the woods which are washed onto the beach grassed in the hills throughout the opening of the largest river in the Pacific Northwest region. With the same study made by the said author, these types of mushrooms are straightforward to grow and develop. As it has been found psychoactive, many people in BC have been overwhelmed with its strong and potent effects as the introduction of this mushroom type has begun.
Psilocybe azurescens are the type of magic mushrooms which is regarded as common in a suburban and public lawn. This type of psychoactive mushroom has been linked with shredded conifer mulches which were later known plentiful in the lands of Vancouver late ’80s. As soon as it has been confirmed to include some active psychoactive substances, its presence has been nowhere to be found and just vanished like a ghost. With its leading properties and chemical substances, Psilocybe azurescens are very strong and potent.
This type of magic mushroom is being studied by a British plant pathologist and mycologist Elsie Maud Wakefield. Psilocybe cyanescens are also called wavy caps. One thing to know about this is its growing origin. It typically grows in newly trimmed and landscaped expanses where small to medium pieces of woods have been fused with dirt and barks. But they are very affectionate in growing through alder chips.
Based on the recent study made by Guzmán and Stamets, psilocybe cyanofibrillosa is normally found in unusual matted roots of bushes, ferns, and green trees adjacent through the surge places of stream mountains and courses. It has also been linked with shredded wood chip mulches
This type of magic mushroom gas originated from Europe. However, it can also be rarely found in cropped fields and lush pastures in BC. What is remarkable on its appearance is its stem which includes a thin and pliable membrane.
One regarded as LBM or what they also call little brown mushrooms, psilocybe pelliculosa grows mainly in conifer debris and scatters through woodchopping areas and trails. But aside from conifer debris, psilocybe pelliculosa can also be found in landscapes where conifer mulches are present.
Compared to the above types of magic mushrooms, this type is only incorporated with lesser potency. But the fact that it is composed of some poisonous active substances, eating it will be dangerous.
Commonly known for its iconic name, Psilocybe semilanceata is another type of magic mushroom that is very popular in BC. Known as the liberty cap, this type of psychedelic mushroom typically grows from the root of lifeless grasses and wet plains especially those dead grasses that form thick roofing.
But in the other western regions, Psilocybe semilanceata can also grow in yards and gardens. There are a lot of lovers and mushroom aficionados that recognize this magic mushroom as the friendliest mushroom at all times.
This type of magic mushroom has been studied by Guzmán and Jonathan Ott. According to their study, psilocybe stuntzii is a typical weed class found in various public and residential places where newly landscaped gardens and sowings, wood chip mulches, and other wood elements are present. Just like Psilocybe pelliculosa, Psilocybe stuntzii’s potency level is also low and is composed of some poisonous; active substances, which eating it will be dangerous.
This type of magic mushroom bears a close resemblance to Psilocybe semilanceata. But the only difference is its fine point and its huge band of tissue tiny fibers encompassing its stem. A faithful BC magic mushroom, it was first discovered in the lands of Vancouver back in 1976 and has become widespread since then.
Regarded as a very fragile and small type of magic mushroom, conocybe cyanopus is another psychoactive mushroom that can be found in BC. It typically grows in waterlogged overgrown grasslands and gardens during fall and summer. However, the fact that it is linked with conocybe species, it is determined that it is incorporated with poisonous substances. With that, the same as the other types of magic mushrooms discussed above, eating this will be dangerous.
This type of magic mushroom is regarded due to its colorful and vibrant appearance but yet with an ugly and bitter taste. Gymnopilus aeruginosus are usually found in the woods.
One that typically grows in well dug and manured loams and soils, Panaeolus subbalteatus is a type of magic mushroom found in BC that can also grow in purged horse compost and manures.
